Cuttyhunk Island Art Residency

In September 2019, I was awarded an art residency on the remote island of Cuttyhunk. It is the outermost of the Elizabethan Islands. I used the time to begin working on a series of upcoming large oil paintings. Cuttyhunk Island Artists’ Residency offers artists the time to focus on their work in a beautiful, remote setting far removed from the distractions of everyday life. An intimate group of twelve visual artists gather on Cuttyhunk Island for eight days to share ideas and learn from each other while working on their individual projects. Gallery at FOUR: ARTIST TALK

On Thursday, September 12th, I had a small artist discussion about my more recent work. What came out of the conversation was quite interesting. It is important to my more recent thinking about my place in the world of art. As much as I see the value in explaining my work, it’s far more important that the work inspire thoughts in the viewer.
